PURPOSE:To safely produce regenerated activated carbon of high quality by disposing a plate-type electrode and a rod-type electrode apart from each other at bottom and the upper part of a desorption tank, respectively, and generating spark discharge in the activated carbon collected in this tank between the electrodes while stirring the activated carbon. CONSTITUTION:Used activated carbon 40 in a hopper 42 is sent by one batch amt. to the elimination tank 32 by a screw conveyer 43. In the tank, DC voltage is applied between a rod electrode 35 disposed at the upper part of the tank and a plate electrode 36 at the bottom while the rod electrode 35 and a stirring plate 37 are rotated with a driving motor 38. By this method, spark discharge is generated in the activated carbon nearly just below the rod electrode 35, and the position of spark discharge moves round so that the spark discharge is generated uniformly in the activated carbon 40 to uniformly proceed the desorption reaction and to recover high-quality activated carbon 40. The regenerated activated carbon is collected downward by one batch in a reserving tank 39, cleaned with cleaning water 51, and sent to an activated carbon purifier. Thus, regenerated activated carbon 40 of high quality can be produced in a safe process. |
