PURPOSE:To reduce the buffer memory capacity and to decrease the cost and transmission time, by calculating the data amount stored in the buffer memory in advance with simulation, in the picture data transmission system for data compression. CONSTITUTION:The video signal 15 produced at a facsimile transmitter 1 of a transmitter 10 is compressed and coded, and the compressed data 11 are stored in the storage device. On the other hand, the number of compressed data 12 is fed to a calculation circuit 4 to calculate the operating speed of the receiver 30 suitable for the transmission of the original, and after it is transmitted to the receiver 30, the compressed data is read out from the storage device 3 to transmit it to the transmission line 20. When the reception controller 6 receives the operating speed information, the receiver operating speed set signal is fed to the facsimile receiver 9. Further, the compressed data fed from the transmission line 20 is written in the buffer memory 7, this is decoded into the original picture data 15 and transmitted to the receiver 9 to obtain recorded picture. |
