<p>PURPOSE:To easily produce the subject substance useful as a deuteration solvent, etc., for NMR analysis of resins in high yield by reducing hexafluoroacetone with deuterium in heavy water in the presence of a transition metal catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The subject substance is produced by using deuterium and hexafluoroacetone at a molar ratio of (1-6):1 and reducing in heavy water in the presence of a transition metal catalyst. The transition metal catalyst is produced by supporting Ni, Pd, Pt, Rh, Ru, etc., on activated carbon, alumina, etc., in an amount of 0.1-50wt.% and the reaction is preferably carried out in liquid phase taking consideration of the conversion of expensive deuterium. In the case of liquid-phase process, the hexafluoroacetone is used as a 60-90wt.% heavy water solution and the reaction is carried out preferably at 80-110 deg.C under 6-10kg/cm<2> pressure.</p> |
