摘要 Flexible composite superconductor for electric cables consists of a superconducting, pref. high temp. superconducting ceramic material (I) and a metal substrate (II) of normal conductivity. (I) is in spiral form and wound around and attached firmly to a central cylinder of (II). The novel features are that (II) consists of a spirally corrugated tube (1) and (I) (3) is placed in the spiral, mechanically neutral zones of the corrugated tube, where it is connected electrically and bonded firmly to the (II) tube. USE/ADVANTAGE - The superconductor has the relatively large cross-section needed for cables and also satisfactory flexibility. If brittle (I) cracks, (II) provides a bridge preventing total failure of the superconductor. The (II) tube is also used for transporting the refrigerant (normally liquid N2 for high temp. (I)).
