Method for passage control for people, in which a person, who is to be authorized to pass by an authorizer, is allocated a code I' which is supplied by the person to a comparison unit 2 which determines whether the code is valid or not and, if the code is valid, authorizes passage, for example by setting a lock 3 to the unlocked position. The method is characterized in particular in that the code I', which is allocated to the person and does not necessarily have to be kept secret for full or adequate security to apply, is calculated by means of a calculating unit 1 according to a special calculating algorithm on the basis of an individual personal code I" for the person and, in appropriate cases, further information I"', and in that the comparison unit 2 is supplied with both the personal code I" and the allocated code I' and, in appropriate cases, said further information I"', and calculates on the basis of the information supplied a corresponding code I' according to said algorithm and compares the calculated code supplied with that calculated by the comparison unit.
