PURPOSE:To obtain a fluorinated polycarbonate resin improved in birefringence and being usable as an optical recording base without detriment to its impact resistance, hygroscopicity, heat resistance, etc., and comprising specified repeating structural units. CONSTITUTION:A dihydric alcohol of formula I is mixed with a dihydric alcohol of formula II (wherein a group of formula III is trans-cyclohexylene) to obtain an alcohol mixture. The mixture is allowed to react with a carbonic acid derivative (e.g. phosgene) in the presence of an organic base (e.g. pyridine) to obtain the title resin having repeating structural units of formula IV (wherein (x+y)=1, x>=0.1 and y>=0.1). |
