The prepn. of 3-(((-2((aminoiminomethyl) amino)-4-thiazolyl)-methyl) thio)-N-(amino)sulphonyl)-proparimide amide of formula (I) and its tautomers and pharmaceutically acceptable salts comprises reacting an alkoxyimine deiv. of formula (II) with N-trimethylsilyl sulphamide of formula (III) in the presence of a variable amt. of a metal oxide or metal alcoholate pref. a catalytic amt. of NaOMe in a polar solvent, pref. MeOH. R = lower alkyl.
