PURPOSE:To easily realize a small size and to obtain a laser beam source whose output is large by a method wherein an optical resonator equipped with a nonlinear optical element is provided and an optical separation means which separates a first laser beam from a second laser beam spatially is installed. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam from a laser diode 1a is condensed by an objective (convex lens) 2a; it is incident on a laser rod 4a. A p-polarized fundamental-wave laser beam is generated; it is passed through a polarization beam splitter 5 and is incident on a nonlinear optical crystal element 6. A second harmonic beam is generated and reflected by a concave mirror. This operation is repeated; a p-polarized second harmonic beam having a prescribed optical output is obtained; one part is output from a concave mirror 3c. Regarding a laser beam from a laser diode 16, an s-polarized fundamental-wave laser beam is reflected by the polarization beam splitter 5; an s-polarized second harmonic wave beam having a prescribed optical output is obtained; one part becomes an output beam. |
