PROCESS FOR EVALUATING BINARY DATA OF A MAGNETIC STORAGE CARD

A magnetic data card (10) has information recorded on a strip with three tracks. The card is read by passing across an electro-magnetic head (30) at a constant speed (V). The induced pulses are passed through a filter (32) and are amplified (34) before being converted (36) to generate digital inputs to a microprocessor (38). The signals are obtained in a sampling process with the status of the signals at the end of sampling periods determining 1 or 0 states. Specific timing of signals allows any spurious value to be identified and eliminated.
