PURPOSE:To positively carry out transmission of torque by delaying the release of the engagement of engagement means for a given delay time after the com mand of speed change, when detecting a rotational condition more than a given characteristics of the input shaft of an automatic transmission at the time of speed change. CONSTITUTION:At the time of speed change from a first speed to a second speed, a CPU 107 to which the command of speed change is input judges the presence or absence of racing on the basis of the number of rotation of the turbine of torque converter 2, in case of no racing, a first and a second electro magnetic valve 61, 62 are closed and a third electromanetic valve 63 is opened, whereby the engagement of a 204 brake 8 is released and a 3-4 clutch 6 is engaged. Hereupon, in case that racing occurs, a delay time for delaying the release of engagement of the 2-4 brake is determined, the first electromagnetic valve 61 is opened for the time only to delay the release of the engagement of the 2-4 brake 8. Thus, prevention of the racing and the prevention of detrioration of the engagement means can be attempted. |
