The contact pressure element for bottle labelling machines is axially movable against the end side of the bottle head and has an internally bell-shaped housing (2,2a,2b) and an elastically deformable plate (3) consisting of foam at least on its front side (9) facing the end side of the bottle top. An annular elastically extensible roller body (5) is rotatably mounted in a holder (2b) in front of the front side of the plate. The distance of the centre plane (8) of the roller body (5) from the front (9) of the plate is smaller than the height of the bottle top and when the bottle top is dipped into the elastically deformable plate the plate and/or an elastic pressure element (4) acting thereon exerts such a resetting force that the bottle top is ejected from the roller body without any axial extra force.
