A method and arrangement are described for automatic regulation of the supply of steam to a chip bin 1 in a continuous digestion system for the purpose of maintaining a predetermined temperature in the chip bin 1, which steam comprises on the one hand process steam from a steam source 7 in the digestion system which is supplied through a main line 8, which is provided with a main valve 10 which is regulated depending on the temperature prevailing in the chip bin, and on the other hand supplementary fresh steam which is supplied as required to the chip bin through a line 14 provided with a valve 15. According to the invention, the pressure of the process steam in the steam source 7 is measured by a pressure sensor 16 which is arranged so as, via a pressure regulator 18, to provide signals to the valve 15 in the fresh-steam line 14 so that the valve 15 is opened for the supply of fresh steam when the pressure falls below a predetermined value which indicates an inadequate quantity of process steam from the steam source 7, and is closed in order to interrupt the supply of fresh steam when the pressure has again risen to said predetermined value, the fresh steam being supplied at a point in the main line 8 which is located in front of the main valve 10. <IMAGE> |
