The fuel to air mixture fed to the engine inlet valves is controlled by a valve in a cylindrical housing (1). Partially obstructing the flow path through the valve, a valve body (3) is mounted on a rotor shaft (5). The lower end of the valve body has a curved underside (4) which alters the flow rate according to its rotational position. The lambda factor of the exhaust gases of the engine is measured by a device which uses chemo-absorption and diffusion techniques to produce an analogue signal. The lambda factor is the proportion of air to carbohydrates, by mass, in the gas. The digitised version of the signal is compared with a reference value and the valve rotor is driven round by an electric motor until an optimum lambda ratio of 14.7 to 1 is achieved. @(8pp Dwg.No.1/5)@.
|
