<p>PURPOSE:To accelerate the incineration of soot especially at the part on an inflow side by constituting the adjacent cell end parts of a ceramic honeycomb structure by alternately plugging the cells of the honeycomb structure and constituting a plug material at least on the inlet side of a material having a dielectric constant larger than that of a honeycomb material. CONSTITUTION:The end parts 3, 4 of the adjacent cells 2 of a ceramic honey comb structure are constituted by alternately plugging the cells 2 and the plug material at least on an inlet side is constituted of a material having a dielectric constant larger than that of a honeycomb material. That is, since the dielectric constant of a filter part where much soot in exhaust gas is accumulated is made large, when the honeycomb structure is regenerated by heating and inciner ating soot by a microwave, the microwave can be concentrated to a part much in soot quantity. By this method, the incineration of soot is accelerated espe cially at the part on the inlet side and regeneration can be made more perfect and, therefore, stable and efficient particulate removing capacity enhanced in reliability can be ensured over a long time.</p> |
