The arrangement measures the reverse flow damping in fibre optical components contains an optical power divider (4) which directs the measurement light signal from an optical reflectometer (1) to a measurement (6) and a reference (5) branch. The measurement and reference branches have light conductors of different lengths. The reference branch is a light conductor with a reference (14) at the end remote from the power divider. ADVANTAGE - Accurate, reliable measurements are achieved with arrangement which produces results more quickly.
