Refuse compacting machine - has compactor plate actuated by scissors-type linkage and linear actuator

A machine (1) for compacting refuse has a container (2) to receive the refuse. The refuse is compacted by means of a plate (3) which is a close fit inside the container and is pressed downwards against the refuse. The plate (3) is connected to the underside of the container cover (1a), by means of a scissors-type linkage (4a, 4b). A linear actuator (5) has one end connected to the cover and the other end connected to the pivot point (10) of the linkage (4a, 4b). When the actuator is extended, the plate (3) is forced downards. When the plate (3) is fully retracted, it lies together with the linkage (4a, 4b) inside the container lid (1a). USE - Compacting of refuse.
