The chipbreaker comprises a shaft in a housing and with which a number of supporting discs turn, each with shredder bodies at intervals round the periphery and separated by distance-pieces. The bodies are fixed knives (5) extending in the radial direction, and offset in the peripheral direction from those on adjacent discs.
