Coating compsn. contains an organic solvent (I), a mixt. of a polyhydroxy component (II) and a polyisocyanate component (III) and an agent (IV) to extend the pot life. The novel features are that (II) has an acid no. of 5-25; and (IV) consists of a mixt. of 0.1-4.0 (wt.)% (w.r.t. the total coating compsn.) of a cpd. (IVA) with a tert. amino gp. or amido gp. and 1-15% of a tert. monoalcohol (IVB) except 2-methyl-2-propanol and 2-methyl-2-butanol. Pref. (II) has an acid no. of 10-20. (III) does not contain sec. NCO gps. and pref. is a polyisocyanurate-polyisocyanate of isophorone diisocyanate; reaction prod. of 3 mole isophorone diisocyanate with 1 mole water; or an adduct of 3 mole isophorone diisocyanate with 1 mole triol. Pref. (IVA) is dimethylacetamide, dimethylcyclohexylamine, N-methylmorpholine, 1-methylpyrrole, methylimidazole or 1-methylpyrrolidine and is used in an amt. of 0.8-0.9%; whilst (IV3) has evaporisation value of under 60 and flash point above 21 deg. C and pref. is 1-methoxy-tert. -butan-2-ol (IVB-1).
