<p>The invention relates to a procedure and device for scrambling-descrambling digital image data. The data are subjected to a processing in order to extract the colourimetric components of the pixels constituting the image, the components being constituted as blocks b(I, J) of NxN pixels x(i, j), so as to produce a corresponding spatial partitioning of the image where I denotes a row index and J a column index of arrangement of the blocks in the image, i and j denoting a row index and a column index of arrangement of the pixels in each block. The pixels and/or blocks are subjected to an inter- and/or inter-block shuffling process. The inter-block shuffling consists of an arbitrary rearrangement of the said pixel blocks and the intra-block shuffling consists of an arbitrary rearrangement of the pixels of each block to obtain a scrambled arrangement of blocks and/or of pixels. Application to the protection of stationary or moving image transmissions by access code.
