FLAVORED TEA BAG HANGING THREAD AND TEA BAG MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To impart a flavor to tea bags without impairing the feeling and function of tea bag hanging thread or tea bag material by a method wherein the surface of the thread is coated with an odorant of cyclodextrin clathrate compound and a water-soluble high-molecular compound. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a thread is coated with an odorant of cyclodextrin clathrate compound and a water-soluble high-molecular compound. The odorant refers to both natural and synthetic perfumes. The example of the natural perfume is lavender oil, mint oil and rose oil and the example of the synthetic perfume is acetacetate and benzyl benzoate. alpha-cyclodextrin, beta- cyclodextrin and gamma-cyclodextrin are three examples of the dextrin. When such odorant is mixed with cyclodextrin or the starch decomposition product containing cyclodextrin and this mixture is kneaded thoroughly, the odorant enters the cavities in the molecules of the cyclodextrin to form a clathrate compound.
