PURPOSE:To emit a sufficient ion amount to an electrostatic latent image acceptor and to improve the quality of an image by applying a non-ion emitting voltage to a control electrode of a region which does not emit ions, setting the control electrode of a region which emits ions to the same potential as a reference voltage, and applying a lower voltage than the non-ion emitting voltage to an adjacent control electrode. CONSTITUTION:When ions are passed, a third switching element 20c is connected to a ground 23 to ground a control electrode 11c desired to pass the ions, a second switching element 20b is connected to a second power source 22 to apply a voltage V1 to control electrodes 11b, 11d adjacent to the electrode 11c. When a first switching element 20a is connected to a first power source to apply a voltage V2 to control electrodes 11a, 11e, the voltage of both side parts of the ion emitting region desired to emit the ions becomes low. Accordingly, an ion flow is not interrupted by a control electric field in the non-ion emitting region adjacent to the ion emitting region, but an ion amount can be increased. |
