PURPOSE:To avert the direct contact of rolling rolls and a material to be rolled and to drastically relieve the thermal fatigue of the rolling rolls in rolling at a high temp. and low speed by interposing rings between the rolling rolls and the material to be rolled and rolling the material. CONSTITUTION:The rings 3 having 2 to 10mm thickness and the peripheral length longer than the outer peripheral length of the rolling rolls 2 are fitted to the outer side of the rolls 2. The rolling is executed while the outer peripheral surfaces of these rings 3 come into contact with the material 1 to be rolled. A take-up roll 4 in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the upper ring 3 may be provided at need. Since the rings 3 are thin in thickness and large in peripheral length as mentioned above, the rings can be easily cooled by water cooling, etc., except at the time when the rings are in contact with the material 1 to be rolled. |
