In order to induce and maintain a relaxed state in human beings while a learning programme is being transmitted, right and left multiplex signals (MR and ML) recorded on a sound carrier are obtained and amplified in a reproducing device. Audio signals and frequency-modulated control signals are derived from these amplified multiplex signals by means of suitable filter stages (66, 68, 70, 72). The frequency-modulated control signals are demodulated, amplified and used to activate a light source (20; 22), and the audio signals are made acoustically perceptible by means of headphones (16, 18). The light signals and some of the audio signals produce the relaxed state of the subjects; the other audio signals are used to transmit information. As the control signals are recorded on the sound carrier while the learning programme is being recorded, the control signals can be co-ordinated with, i.e. matched and adapted to, the instantaneous information content of the learning material. |
