The bicycle main crankshaft (5) is located in a frame inside an insert sleeve pushed into the frame and secured by a threaded short sleeve from the other side. The shaft is braced inside the sleeve on full width needle bearing (4), locating against retaining shoulders. The needle bearing sections are caged, using plastics rings which can be moulded directly to the crankshaft.
