The insert fits on the neck of a tube, bottle etc. and has a pot-shaped bottom part and a sealing cap. On the top of the bottom part are brush-shaped, upright, wiper members over which the cap fits, leaving a central area free for a boss on the underside of the cap sealing an opening in the top of the bottom part. At the bottom of the cap is an internal thread engaging the bottle neck etc. The side (13) of the pot-shaped part and the internal thread (25) are at the same cross-sectional plane, and there can be a portion (15) at the side, with which the bottle neck (4) snaps into engagement.
