The invention relates to a device for equalizing forces in lift ropes 1 by which the lift cage and the counterweight 3 have been induced to move with respect to each other. The invention has been realized such that the rope equalization is created by medium-acting equalizing members 5a, to which lift ropes 1 are fastened. In the equalizing members, in respect of each rope, there is a cylindrical chamber 6 present, within which there moves a piston 7.
