PURPOSE:To utilize a display screen effectively and to utilize a display screen effectively and to make a display of the maximum number of digits within a handled range at need by providing a character code converting means which converts data of significant digits into half-sized character codes and a control means which performs control so that the character codes converted by the character code converting means are displayed. CONSTITUTION:A controller 12 compares the significant digits of data to be displayed with the number of display digits read out of a screen layout table 14. When the significant digits of data to be displayed does not exceed the significant digits which can be displayed as a result of the comparison by the comparing means, data of the significant digits are converted into half-sized character codes automatically. The character codes which are converted by the character code converting means are displayed on a display device 11. Consequently, the display screen can be utilized effectively and the maximum digits in the handled range is also displayed. |
