PURPOSE:To efficiently separate aromatic amino acids from an aqueous solution of amino acid mixture containing amino acids having aromatic ring in molecule and impurities together and produced by various amino acid producing methods by using a specific gel type strongly acidic cation exchange resin. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing at least one kind of amino acids such as tryptophan, phenylalanine and tyrosine having an aromatic ring in molecule is treated with a gel type strongly acidic cation exchange resin prepared in alkali (earth) metal salt form, normally at fluid rate of 0.1-100Hr<-1> SV to specifically absorb the aromatic amino acids into the resin. Water containing no acid or alkali is brought into contact with the ion exchange resin in which the amino acids are absorbed, normally at 0-100 deg.C so as to elute the absorbed aromatic amino acids to effectively separate the aimed amino acids without requiring a specific eluting agent. Furthermore, the above- mentioned method has large industrial value, because the resin finished in elution operation can directly be used for the next separation treatment. |
