PURPOSE:To obtain excellent cycle characteristic with a large capacity and a high potential by using a vanadium oxide containing Li represented by Lii+xV3 O8+y (wherein x and y are specified range values) as the active material of a positive electrode and LiClO4 and Li6 as a nonaqueous electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a positive electrode, a negative electrode consisting of Li metal or an alloy containing Li, and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing Li ion is provided. As the active material of the positive electrode of this battery, a vanadium oxide containing Li represented by Lii+xV3O8+y (O<=x<=0.6, -0.5<=y<=0.3) is used. As the nonaqueous electrolyte, LiClO4 and LiPF6 are used. Hence, the battery has a large capacity, and a high potential, and is also excellent in cycle characteristics. As a concrete example, the battery has a positive electrode 1, a positive electrode collector 2, a negative electrode 5, and a negative electrode collector 6, and a separator 8 is formed of a porous polypropylene film and impregnated with the electrolyte. |
