Method of transmitting a fax to computer equipment

This relates to transmitting a fax comprising a message and a header. The header alone is coded on transmission and decoded on reception by the computer equipment without risk of error. The coding of the header is done by filling in the boxes (11) of a grid (9) of a sheet. In order to decode the header on reception, the boxes (11) are positioned with respect to a frame (10), peripheral regions are cut off from each of the boxes (11), the core of each of these boxes is analysed, the character from each of the columns of the said grid (9) is decoded, and the header is reconstituted. <IMAGE>
