PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound having excellent antitumor activity, immuno-regulating activity and prophylactic activity and stable physical and chemical properties and physiological activities in high yield by treating sucrose with a synthetase of physiologically active polysaccharide RON. CONSTITUTION:Sucrose is treated with a synthetase of physiologically active polysaccharide RON to obtain the objective compound which is an alpha-glucan containing alpha-1,6 bond as the main chain and having small amount of branched structures at 1, 3, 6 sites and exhibiting the following properties. Appearance, white amorphous powder free from taste and odor; constituent sugar, exclusively glucose ; estimated molecular weight, >=10,000; elemental analysis, C 44-45%, H 6.1-6.3%; containing little protein; color reaction, positive to anthrone sulfuric acid reaction, etc., and negative to biuret reaction, etc.; melting point, not distinct; action, antitumor activity. |
