Control system for cold-rolling process - has tension monitor to identify periodic fluctuations for feedback control of roller drive

The cold rolling process has the rolled material pulled onto a take-up bobbin (2) after passing over a tensioning monitoring roller (3). The variations in the tension are identified and any regular variations are used to regulate the roller drive, as is the constant level tension. The rollers are driven to maintain the tension and ensure an even rolling process. The tension roller is mounted on a pressure sensitive support (Z). The tension is controlled by variation of the drive current to the bobbin enabling a simple processor control to be used. ADVANTAGE - Even rolling control, simple feedback correction for tension.
