NEW MATERIAL:A betaine shown by formula I [R is 2-24C alkylene, alicyclic alkylene, aralkylene or group shown by formula II ((p) is 0 or positive integer; (q) is positive integer) ; R' is 1-24C alkyl or aralkyl; (n) is 2-50; X is group shown by formula III ((n) is 1 or 3) or formula IV] or formula V. EXAMPLE:A compound shown by formula VI. USE:A dispersant. The betaine compound changes adsorption state because of possession of plural cations at the main chain, has various possibilities because of existence of replaceable functional groups at both ends and is useful as a cleaning agent or a component thereof, an emulsifying agent, antistatic agent, anti-fogging agent, etc., because the compound is excellently blended with other surfactants. PREPARATION:Epichlorohydrin is allowed to react sodium bisulfite, then the prepared reaction product is made to react with a tertiary amino-alcohol shown by formula VII or formula VIII and made into a hydrosulfobetaine to give a compound shown by formula I wherein X is group shown by formula V. |
