PURPOSE:To improve high temperature durability and a sealing property by using a thermal-plastic material for a resin cover, placing an electric heater between the end edges of the resin cover to heat and melt them, and heat-fusing them while leaving the electric heater as it is. CONSTITUTION:The outer surface of a pipe P is surrounded by a resin cover 1 in a sealing form, and end edges 1a and 1b of the resin cover 1 are overlapped each other. At the same time, an electric heater 2 is placed along the whole area between the end edges 1a and 1b, and pressure plates 3a and 3b at the inner side and the outer side are set to act on the end edges 1a and 1b separately. Then, a current is fed to the electric heater 2 to heat and melt the end edges 1a and 1b, the inner pressure plate 3b is contacted to the pipe P, an external force is applied to the outer pressure plate 3a, and the end edges 1a and 1b are pressed to each other. The current to the electric heater 2 is cut off under such a condition, and the heated and melted end edges 1a and 1b are cooled and hardened in the condition of leaving the electric heater 2 as it is, so as to fuse thermally. After that, both pressure plates 3a and 3b are removed, and the lead wire of the electric heater 2 is cut off to complete the process. |
