A radio receiver, particularly a vehicle receiver, is equipped with a decoder for decoding digitally coded received traffic information. It contains a memory in which the traffic information is stored ready to be called up. If this radio receiver is intended to be able to always indicate the current traffic information, it would have to remain continuously switched-on in order to be able to store the updated traffic information in each case in its memory. In the case of a vehicle receiver, however, this results in a high power requirement which excessively loads the vehicle battery. The radio receiver according to the invention is equipped with a power saving circuit which only connects the assemblies needed for the interpretation of the traffic information to the operating voltage source. In addition, it can be provided that the greatest power consumers of these assemblies are only switched on temporarily and the complete cycles of the traffic information are only interpreted if previous interpretation of an updating bit has shown that there are changes present. <IMAGE> |
