<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject substance by reacting an alkylenol ether compound with an oxygen-containing gas in a modest condition in the presence of primary and/or secondary alcohol using a specific vanadium compound as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by formula I (R<1> is lower alkyl; R<2> is alkyl or aryl; R<3> and R<4> are H, alkyl formable of ring) is subjected to a reaction with an oxygen-containing gas at 20-90 deg.C in the presence of a primary and/or secondary alcohol using a V compound expressed by formula II (R<5> and R<6> are alkyl, aryl or alkoxycarbonyl; R<7> is H, halogen, alkyl, aryl or alkenyl, etc., and a ring may be formed with R<5> and R<7>) as a catalyst to afford the objection compound expressed by formula IV. The substance is obtained in a higher yield by performing the above-mentioned reaction in the presence of synthetic zeolite. The subject substance is useful as a synthetic intermediate of medicine and agricultural chemical.</p> |
