<p>PURPOSE:To save onboard fuel by operating an engine generator fully at the time of traveling whereas obtaining power, to be consumed onboard, through a current collector in a section where feeder rail is laid. CONSTITUTION:When a train approaches a station and enters into a section where feeder rail is laid, a voltage detector 3 detects power supply through a current collector 2 and provides a signal to an ON delay circuit 8. The ON delay circuit 8 provides the signal, as a deceleration signal, to an engine r.p.m. controller 10 upon elapse of prescribed delay time thus throttling the generator output. Power to be supplied through the current collector 2 increases as the generator output decreases thus catering for the load power. Consequently, the engine generator is rendered no-load and performs idling thus saving fuel.</p> |
