PURPOSE:To improve impact resistance and the workability in forming and to contrive to thin a prepreg by a method in which as reinforcing fiber, the carbon fiber on one side and the glass fiber on the other side are arranged, and between said fibers, organic fiber and further the fiber different from said fibers are contained as reinforcing fiber. CONSTITUTION:Between the unidirectional carbon fiber-reinforced prepreg which uses carbon fiber 2 as reinforcing fiber and the unidirectional glass fiber- reinforced prepreg which uses the glass fiber 3 arranged in the same direction as the carbon fiber as reinforcing fiber, organic fiber 6 and different kind-fibers 8 are arranged in the same direction as the carbon fiber 2 and the glass fiber 3 and at a prescribed interval, and then said materials are integrally formed by compressing and/or heating, whereby a hybrid prepreg 1 is produced. As the organic fiber 6 to be used, polyarylate fiber, aramid fiber and polyethylene fiber, etc., are used. As the different kind-fiber 8, the in organic fiber such as e.g. boron fiber or alumina fiber except glass fiber may be used. Consequently, its mechanical strength and impact resistance are elevated and its workability in forming are improved comparatively with conventional hybrid prepreg in spite of its thin thickness. |
