PURPOSE:To reduce a ratio of returning a passbook to offer an improved service to a customer by a method wherein a printing density optically read from the passbook is collated with two density levels. CONSTITUTION:The read surface of a passbook 10 is scanned by an optical sensor 16. Data representing the density of the read surface is obtained on the flow to a quantizing part 46 through an amplifying part 42 and an A/D converting part 44. In the quantizing part 46, the data is converted to two-face data, and the point number of black is evaluated. In comparing parts 22A, 24A, the point number of black is compared with slice levels S1, S2 from slice tables 18, 20. In next transaction line judging parts 22B, 24B, the presence of printing is judged. A line next to the judged line is specified respectively in the next transaction line judging parts 22B, 24B as a target line on which a new transaction content should be printed. In a line setting position decision part 50, the target line is finally determined as a set line when coincidence signals are imparted from comparing parts 26-1 and 26-2, and an instruction to feed the line to the printing position of a printing head 12 is outputted. |
