The invention relates to a device making it possible to prove that documents have been transmitted by a reproduction system called facsimile or telecopy. It consists of the writing on each document transmitted, or on a copy taken internally by the machine, of the number of the line used by the sending appliance, of the number of the called line, of the date and time of the transmission, as well as of the end-of-message reception acknowledgement. The device according to the invention is intended to give a legal standing to documents transmitted by fax, a legal standing similar to that existing for correspondence transmitted by telex.
