LOW-MELT-VISCOSITY POLYESTER COMPOSITION AND POLYESTER CHIP

PURPOSE:To prepare the title compsn. having a high mol.wt. and a low melt viscosity by compounding a polyester obtd. from an arom. dicarboxylic acid and a glycol with a melt viscosity depressant. CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. is prepd. by compounding a polyester obtd. from an arom. dicarboxylic acid or a deriv. thereof (e.g. terephthalic acid, naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, or their alkyl esters) and a glycol (e.g. ethylene glycol or bisphenol A) with a melt viscosity depressant (e.g. ethylbiphenyl) while making the intrinsic viscosity(IV) and melt index(MI) satisfy the relation IVXMI<=15. The compsn. has a low melt viscosity and a high mol.wt. and can be molded at a low temp. thus preventing the thermal decomposition during molding.
