The storage capacitor (6) is charged from a battery (1) through the prim. winding (3) of the ignition coil (2) and a charging diode (5). It is discharged to earth (9) by an electronic control circuit (11) turning-on two transistors (10,12) simultaneously in series with the prim. winding (3). - During charging, a diode (14) prevents sparking across the gap (7), and another switched transistor (13) reinforces the effect of a buffer capacitor (8). At discharge, another diode (17) protects the battery (1). |
