The side protection for a goods vehicle has air bags (19) attached to the vehicle frame (12) or to the container (13) holding the material being transported. - The air bags are controlled by sensors (20) which are activated on reaching a critical inclination of the container. The air bags can be progressively inflated depending on the tilting movement of the vehicle.
