A dual-purpose label, is used both as a tag and as a self-adhesive label, is required to adhere to both curved as well as flat surfaces and therefore has a low bending stiffness. Suitable materials generally have low tear resistance which causes rapid failure of a hole in the label when used as a tag. A covering material is used to act as a reinforcing layer and the combined layers provide high tear resistance at the hole and sufficiently low bending stiffness after cover removal prior to attachment to curved surfaces. The label material comprises a relatively thin material, pref. oriented PP or PETP film. A suitable cover material consists of PP or PVC film, pref. an impact modified rigid PVC film. USE/ADVANTAGE - The label is used both as a self-adhesive label and as a tag suspended by a cord through a hole, has high hole tear strength and bending stiffness for the latter purpose and low-bending stiffness for the former.
