PURPOSE:To eheck and repair the surface of the commutator with high accuracy in a short time by detecting the displacement of the surface of the commutator and the uneveness of the surface of the commutator by turning the commutator and contacting abrasive stone on the surface of the commutator and grinding the surface when the value is predetermined value or higher. CONSTITUTION:The measuring terminals 11 (111-113) of a noncontact type displacement meter are arranged opposing to the surface 5 of the commutator while the measuring terminals 12 (121-123) of a vibration speed meter or a vibration accelerometer are disposed as being contacted and connected to the surface 5 of the commutator. The commutator is turned under this condition, and the displacement and unevenness of the surface 5 of the commutator are detected by means of the measuring terminals 11, 12. When the detecting value is predetermined value or higher, the abrasive stone 25 is contacted with the surface 5 of the commutator, and the surface is ground until the displacement and the unevenness reach prescribed values or lower. |
