The device can form forming gaps in an overlapping material flow. It has an entry conveyor and exit conveyor arranged in series with stationary adjoining roller pulleys. The roll pulley (9) of the entry conveyor at the output side can be raised and lowered. During the gap formation in the material flow the exit conveyor (6) can be driven at a higher speed than the entry conveyor. ADVANTAGE - Simplified design of conveyor which can form gaps in a continuous flow of overlapping sheets.
