<p>For the purpose of enabling knitting of such clothes as body suit, brassiere, petticoat, and underpants at a squeezed part as waist or a local belly part (C) as breast continuously and throughout, a stitch cam (36) and cushion cam (37) of the stitch adjusting unit (35) of the circular knitting machine are moved up and down relatively to a second guard cam (30) by a signal from a stitch adjustment control unit (E), separately in each knitting zone (I, II, III, ...) or collectively and simultaneously in all the knitting zones through acting rings (38). The stitch cam (36) is moved back and forth together with the other cams in the direction of the radius of the knitting cylinder (2) for knitting various patterns. For knitting a partial pile stitch (h), a movable lowering cam (136) on the upstream side of an auxiliary stitch cam (134) is withdrawn to the non-acting position so as to clear a passage (135) for the action of a knitting needle above the auxiliary stitch cam (134).</p> |
