PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF NATURAL LONG-CHAIN ALCOHOLS

A process for the preparation of primary alcohols containing four to twenty carbon atoms from organic acids or derivatives thereof is disclosed. The process comprises cultivating, under anaerobic conditions, a fungus of the genus Mucor in suitable medium containing the carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof.
