PURPOSE:To prevent worsening of yaw damping occasioned by correction of the steering angle of a rear wheel to the opposite phase side by correcting a front wheel steering angle proportioning element, by which a rear wheel steering angle is decided, and a delay element according to an engine load, in a four wheel steering device for a front wheel drive car. CONSTITUTION:In a four-wheel steering device, front wheels (a) steered by operation of a handle form a drive wheel. A means (c) to control steering of rear wheels (b) based on a given control rule having a front wheel steering angle proportioning element proportioning a front wheel steering angle and a delay element by which a delay is caused is provided. In above constitution, a detecting signal from an engine load detecting means (d) is inputted to a rear wheel steering control means (c). With the increase in an engine load detecting value, the front wheel steering angle proportioning element of a rear wheel steering angle is corrected in a direction in which turning round ability of a vehicle is increased, and a rear wheel steering angle is decided so that a delay element, is corrected in a direction in which a delay is increased. This constitution prevents worsening of yaw damping occasioned by correction of a steering angle to the opposite phase side of the rear wheels (b). |
