A solid electrolytic capacitor (C) comprises a capacitor element (E) having a valve metal substrate (1), a dielectric film (2) formed thereon, a conductive polymer layer (3) formed on the dielectric film (2), and a resin casing (4) which does not directly contact the element (E). The capacitance and leakage current characteristics are improved.
